I've been having trouble finding a dry food Penny and Loki will eat. For some reason my once-eager eaters are bored with Stella and Chewy. And with anything with a top rating. Dang, it's like they can tell! So...I caved and got Purina One SmartBlend Vibrant Maturity. And they're scarfing it up, even without soft food mushed in. It may be a 3 out of 5 on Dog Food Advisor, but hey, if they're eating it, I'll take it!

Have you tried putting in something to entice them?
I have been adding a teaspoon of this warm bone broth and the go nuts for it! They will snarf all their kibble and lick the bowl clean. They even go to each other’s bowls licking them in hopes something might be left!

Sometimes you just have to go with what works even if it isn't your first choice.

When my first sheltie was dying and stopped eating, my parents gave her some horrible food, I can't remember what it was. But it got her to eat and provided nutrition for her final days. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Also, 3/5 stars is not the worst of the worst. You're doing the best you can do, no need to be upset or feel guilty.

I went through this in Barkley's last years. I think I bought every food in the supermarket and fed him piece by piece from my hand whatever he would eat. We do the best we can for them and then there comes a point where they tell us what they want, and they've earned it. If they're eating, it's a victory, Chris!
