I have to say that Liam totally surprised me at class last night! So proud of little Liam!

He was the only puppy in the class to complete the down and sit stay the longest!
He did EVERYTHING I asked of him. His heeling was just outstanding!
When we heeled from one end to the other he even pranced!!!
    OMG... everyone was so impressed!
The trainers said he could go to show with his exuberance! Proud momma...

We had 13 puppies to start the class - only 5 completed all classes and graduated.

Go figure, jumped from the frying pan into the fire!!!!

Liam started his canine good citizen class tonight at a different venue and trainer!

He had a melt down at the first class! Poor guy kept trying to hide under my chair. He got better as the class went on. Two men run the class. I think Liam was more used to the two women from the previous class. Learning curve round Two!

Woo hoo Gloria, great job on the puppy class. Sorry he had a hard time in the first CGC class but he seems to be such a sensitive fellow. I'm sure he'll come around just like he did before. Men's voices are so different from women, body language too, so it may take some time. But he's a GOOD boy!! Congrats.

Yes, men’s voices are so different! This guy is quite loud compared to the woman he had before! I will sit farther away from him. Maybe that will help.

They won’t allow food rewards in this CGC class. Not sure how that will work out as he is only a puppy.
    Anyone else experienced this?

Why would they not allow food rewards? I would run the other way if I wasn't allowed to reward my dog with what she finds rewarding. Training 101. Unless they are practicing for the actual test where you are not allowed to use food rewards? I would be careful about trying to train new behaviors without food if that's what your dog likes. You both could just end up being frustrated. There's a way to go about decreasing reward frequency, or transferring the value of other rewards, but I wouldn't just stop. Especially since Liam is hesitant right now.
