Hi all! I came in to the forum strong talking about my baby's potential stroke, and forgot to introduce myself
I'm Jason, in North Carolina. My baby is a 12 year old Sheltie, Katy. Here's a pic:

She's smaller than most, I think, at 25lbs. I bought her from a reputable lady locally; not a "breeder", per se, but a lady that had kept Shelties in her home for many years and would sell the pups. I met her parents first, of course, and they were well loved and obviously part of the family!
Katy chose me, not the other way around. They had the pups in a box, and when I put my hand in this little girl ran over and nipped my finger!! LOL I immediately said, that's the one!

I did a ton of research on Shelties, of course, and before bringing her home I hung a bell on the door so that I could teach her to ring it when she needs to go out. That first day, she peed in the house so I took her to the bell, showed her how to ring it, then took her outside so she would understand. I kid you not, about an hour later we heard the bell ring!! I took her outside, where she immediately peed! The very first day!!! And she hasn't had an accident in the house since!
She grew up with 2 kitties and a beagle mix, all of whom were strays that I had taken in. They're all gone now :'-( so she's been an only child since June 2021.
She used to go crazy to throw the Frisbee, but she hasn't done that in awhile :-/ Her favorite toy is a Kong squeaky bowling pin, which we bounce around to get her to bark and jump, sometimes we throw it to her to catch, and more often will throw across the room for her to play fetch.
Last week she had an apparent stroke, which is what brought me to the forum. It's only been a week and she's recovering well, so I really, really hope that it was just a stroke and not a brain tumor. I've been overwhelmed with the kind words and support on here! I have not always had that experience on other pet-related forums. This site is obviously pretty special.
Any questions, feel free to ask! I'll talk about my little girl all day <3
