My version of Charlie Bear

OK impressed as I was by your gardening efforts, I'm really amazed at your dog treat baking! So industrious. I bet the dogs just love seeing you in the kitchen!
Thanks Sharon...yes, I had the dogs attention 100% lol. Its funny because I was up and down the stairs while they were baking and Finnie followed me everywhere while Piper stayed downstairs. But every time I returned Piper ran into the kitchen !

I bought that pyramid pan months ago but have never used it. Will be trying this - LOVE the calorie count!!!! So necessary when using so many treats during training!

Thanks!!!! Share away!

I am thinking of getting a dehydrator as well - any info/suggestions are welcome. I was actually going to get one to make sun-dried tomatoes from my garden but dog treats would be good as well.

it is a shame:yes:
well, I might need to get your recipes and buy the pans and convert recipes for oven as I don't at the moment have a dehydrator.......
The good thing about this recipe is it dries up really fast in the oven. Only takes it maybe 20 minutes in the pan and another 10 after I remove it from the pan. It comes out of pan easily (if it won't then it needs a few more minutes)...I love these silicone mats!

This dries in oven easily, I didn't need to dehydrate them. Glad you liked it!

Unfortunately Sandy I don't have that much knowledge about other brands as I bought mine used but I can tell you what I think is important in a dehydrator now that I have used one.
First you want a temperature control...mine just has the blower so if I were to want to make jerky for myself (or even for the dogs) I can't because I can't tell if it gets hot enough to cook it and a second very important feature is a timer, not just an on/off button. Of course there are many brands available so look for this but do your research.
I mainly use mine for the dog treats and when I bake cookies I'll finish them on the dehydrator, guarantees that they are good and dry and won't go bad. I also like to make cookies that are more veggies than flour (oatmeal flour, I don't use regular flour with the dogs) so fewer carbs and calories but they don't dry well in the oven. Oh and sweet potato chews...the dogs love them and they're so expensive but so easy to make!

Haha...I just ordered this silicone treat Mat for the dogs!

Figured I can try the Charlie Bear recipe in a larger form. They bake up quite light and this gets them a very low fat and grain free version.

I'm just loving these silicone molds...yesterday I ground up some beef heart (had extra in freezer, no chicken livers lol) so mixed as they other recipe and they turned out perfect after baking.
Today I mixed up some Greek yogurt and peanut butter, filled the molds and froze them and they popped right out. Back in freezer in a baggie for the perfect treat on a hot day for the dogs (and yup...they love them but then they're Shelties haha)
Made these before I had to climb a ladder to clean a gutter (I'm afraid of heights) otherwise I may have forgotten after all that stress!

Outstanding! What a great idea!
You never cease to amaze me, Lisa!
