Pet FunFest 2011 - Toronto, On.

Pet FunFest/Pet Adoptathon takes place in Downsview Park Toronto on Feb. 12-13th. 25% of ticket proceeds go to an animal rescue charity.

Although its called 'Pet' Funfest it looks as though its geared more toward dogs and people are encouraged to bring their well behaved dogs along.

There are lots of interesting shows, seminars and experts putting demonstrations and there are also meet-up groups and a Dock Dog's competition to watch.

There's also going to be a 'Largest Dog Stay,' in which they're trying to break the World record for largest number of dogs holding a two minute stay.

I just heard about this today and I'm really excited about possibly going with my three pups.

If there's anyone else in the area thinking of going, let me know, I'd love to meet you!

I'd love to go - sounds like fun - but I can't be too far from Dad with his health right now.

If you go, enjoy. If there is anyone local or close that sells grooming supplies, check it out.

That's too bad that no one seems to be going but me. I know that there are some forum members living in Toronto and thought I might see someone there.

Pet FunFest was pretty good, lots of neat vendors and interesting demonstrations.

Sadie, Ginny and Toby took part in the 'Largest Stay,' which was out to break the Canadian record for most dogs in a stay for two minutes. Despite the excessive noise, they all stayed for two minutes with no difficulty.

We saw a few shelties there and the Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue (where Toby came from) was in attendance but I'm hoping that maybe more sheltie forums people will be there next year. There were a few breed meet up groups so I'd LOVE to see a sheltie meet up group next year!

Sounds like fun! So I assume they broke the sit record?

I went to a pet expo this weekend. It was probably similar to your funfest. It was basically a bunch of vendors, some little shows and you can bring the dogs. I saw a ton of shelties! But no one I knew.

Did you get the doggies anything? Bailey got a caricature drawing of herself, some charlee bear treats, a flossie and a rawhide. It's hard to shop for the girl who has everything! I was going to buy her a new crate bed with sheep on it, but didn't think it was worth the $30. Now I kind of regret it. It was cute.

Didn't buy too much for the pups but somehow spent almost $100. How did that happen??

I did buy a book on TTouch that I've been wanting, a raffle ticket and paw towel from the SOS Rescue.

There was a professional photographer trying to talk me into getting a pet portrait done but I decided against it. Like most photographers they make it sound cheap and then you find out about a sitting fee and a bunch of other hidden costs. However mid way through she literally chased me down, just about knocking my friend out of her way and begged me to let her photograph my pack. I ended up buying a really nice 8x10 head shot of them and a 4x6. She gave me the 4x6 for free and didn't charge me the extra fees.
