He is currently with our vet for observation. Last night, he was the same annoying baby brother playing, tormenting, eating and drinking. He did steal a wooden spoon from the dishwasher but I felt it and no splinters or anything. around 9 last night, I noticed one side of his muzzle was swollen. I was hoping that if he had gotten stung or something while out, the swelling would decrease by this morning. It was worse when I uncovered him to I reached out to our vet immediately. He pee'd and poo'd normally this morning, was jumping all over the place until I dosed him with some trazadone per the vet so they could touch his mouth. Not sure if he got stung, has an infection, or maybe broke his tooth or something.

Yes, was thinking tooth.... He was eating, chewing last night. Not sure about this morning because I with-held food and water thinking just in case they need to sedate him for a tooth issue. He was uber bouncy and hungry prior to the trazadone I gave him. I've googled and get anything from tooth abscess to bee sting to nasal tumor to something crawled up his nose. One dog inhaled a grass seed that sprouted in the nose! Reminds me of my cousins daughter with a pea she shoved up her nose that rotted. Mine only had a contest to see which could put the most legos up their nose... Deacon doesn't have hands so while he get into into lots, he can't shove things up his nose.

So sorry to see this, Sandy! What a worry. My money would be on a sting, too. The stinging bugs are nuts outside right now for some reason, maybe the crazy heat? Misty has been chasing bees and I keep waiting for her to get stung. I hope it's nothing more than that and the vet can give you a remedy.​
 
I thought bee sting as well, and looks like that is probably it. But it came on at night, even though he was out after dark, bees aren't. So he must have had a REALLY delayed reaction! My doxies would swell almost immediately.

Deacon would not allow her to examine his mouth so it required sedation, although just twilight sleep. While under, they did dental x-rays and were able to see nothing - no abscess, no tumors, nothin in the nasal cavity. She didn't feel or see anything in his gums, lips, teeth. She dosed him up with an IV antibiotic, dosed him with steroids and Benadryl and he is now home. I am to text her with a morning and evening report these next two days since its the weekend and keep him on Benadryl around the clock every 8 hours until I report back to her Monday. He is quite loopy, could not walk to pee when I got him home so he is in his kennel. Poor guy still hasn't had breakfast but I am slowly introducing food into his empty belly.

I'd lay odd this one was heck of an expensive day between Brodie's dental and Deacon's still swollen face! Polar opposite, these two dogs!
