This questiion came to mind when read Barb's post about the "toy" shelties and their weight charts of growth.

For who have experience, close is birth rate and weight as they grow related to adult size in your opinion?

For example, if a puppy is over 4 lbs at 6 wks does it correlate to oversize adults as alot of people say or is weight at that age more a matter of how fat the puppies are(ie thifty) and the amount of bone present? or Do we just forget the weight and focus on height alone?

I do the weight thing at 6 wks to give me a general idea how things are looking and than follow it up with height at 8wks.

The four pounds at six weeks is a fairly good indicator in my dogs. Birth weight has no bearing though.
