Hi,

My mother lives in Little River, SC and there has been a sheltie running around her neighborhood for the past 2 days. From the way she described the coat I think a mahogany sable. I was hoping that someone on the boards might know the owner. Please feel free to contact me and I can give a more specific area.

Best,

Do you or your mother go on facebook? There is a lost/found dog group for S. Carolina you could look through and put a posting about the Sheltie sighted.

https://www.facebook.com/scpets

I also found this website for posting lost & found pets, it showed 3 Shelties w/in 150 miles of zip code 29566. (2 are long lost dogs, one is recent, from PELION, SC)

Found this lost dog posting also on this website

You or your mother could call the local humane society and tell them of the sighting, as well as the local animal control if you have one. They can at least make note of where and when the dog was seen. Someone is probably missing the dog, thanks for looking out for it.

And lastly I would call my local police dept. first though, they've been very helpful when we find lost dogs.

Thank you Jomuir! I have passed all of the info on to my mother (I'm in Maryland). I have also been in contact with 2 sheltie rescues in the NC/SC area. Hopefully we can get the poor baby home!

The SC Sheltie Rescue has placed a trap but the sheltie hasn't been seen since last Friday.

I'll keep you posted!

Kimberly

There is a photo of the spotted sheltie on my public profile page. Look for the album titled Lost Sheltie SC.

Update: A neighbor contacted my mother - the sheltie lives several neighborhoods over and it's family allows it to run loose - very troubling

Wow, that's irresponsible. Maybe it would be better off being taken to rescue.
