Devon in the Tree by SRW posted Jul 8, 2019 at 11:35 PM
You get 'em, Devon!!! Show those squirrels who's boss!!
Wow Devon, you don't give up huh? Lol
I was trimming a tree yesterday evening and there were 3 squirrels running back and forth on the branches...I was banging on the branches with my tree pruner (it's a long handled extensible rod) but those buggers kept coming! I was afraid they'd jump on me! Devon is definitely braver than I am lol!
He just wants to play with them. Why do they make him climb a tree?
I credit Willow with curbing squirrel predation on our garden. They don't come into the yard much now. I have started picking peas, cucumbers and lettuce. Last year it was a race to see who harvested first, squirrels or us.
Devon is crazy about squirrels. He happened to chase one up that particular tree, and since it had that big branch about 3 feet off the ground, Devon kept jumping and trying to get up there. He slipped off a couple of times, so finally I helped him up there as I was afraid he'd hurt himself trying.
Clarabelle is my squirreler. She hates them. And more than once, she has managed to get a bit of tail.
Devon hasn't gotten that close yet. They've pretty much learned to avoid the yard, so his only chance is on a walk, and even with a 23' extend'a'leash he usually runs out of line before he gets to it, as the aging hunk of meat on the other end of the leash is too slow to keep up with him or the squirrel.
Good idea Devon! I bet the squirrels didn’t appreciate this idea tho.
