I'm not showing my dogs, but I am curious about their growth. I have no idea if I'm measuring them right...I grabbed a yard stick, took my shelties into the kitchen, stood them flat against the wall with front paw directly under him, and placed a pencil over his shoulder blades ( the highest part of his back where I can feel his blades and spine) and left a mark on the wall. I then measured the mark. Here are their stats so far:

    Claussen

    Age: 26 weeks
    Weight: 18.8lbs
    Height: 15.75"

    Little Bear
    Age:15.5 weeks
    Weight:10.4lbs
    Height:11.6"

Am I measuring them correctly? Am I only supposed to be measuring them up the side or is across the back okay? And what about all that fur? Should you part it a little to get right onto the bone?

Sounds like you measured them correctly. It's not exactly a science without a wicket. I did the same thing you did, just stood them next to a door, and used a pencil or ruler to lay it flat against their withers. I don't think you need to part their hair, just use the pencil or ruler to push down through the hair.

I looked back at my notes and at 14 weeks my girl Lexi was 9.5 lbs and 12". She's now 14 lbs and 15.5". At 6 months, she was 12 lbs and 14".

It's hard to say how yours will end up because every line matures differently. When my girl was 12" at 14 weeks I thought for sure she would end up oversize, but our breeder assured us she wouldn't.

This is a good thread to compare everyone's dogs: http://www.sheltieforums.com/showthread.php?t=4321&highlight=puppy+height+weight
