Washing a soft crate

Has anyone ever washed their soft crate? I have an EliteField soft crate and it says it's washable. Problem is, does that mean, throw it in the washing machine, or take it outside and hose it down?

I'm afraid of it shrinking (I wouldn't throw it in the dryer per se, but what if washing alone does that?).

Unfortunately, Koji pooped inside his, I didn't have a mat/towel down (first time ever!!!) and it was kinda soft and it looked like he ate it. It's dried up, rubbed in. I tried to wipe it down, but it's not coming off easily and honestly, it just stinks!

Thoughts?

I did that before I decided to post here. This is all it said, "Removable and washable cover and mat". Not very helpful. I can contact the company, but thought I'd ask everyone here for their experience (if there were any).

Thanks for the suggestion though.
 
I've washed the mat. For the soft crate that I have, I've gently hosed it, towel dried it and left it in the sun to finish drying.
