Barking for food, 10 weeks old

Hi! Your sheltie reminds me of my 11 wk old pup, Toby! I have never had a puppy so in love with food! He also barks for his food. I see the date on your post and wonder if you've had any success since then??

 

We used a small spray bottle of water.

 

Skye is so young and now has to learn how things are happening in your home.

You must do it in a loving way so that she teaches it properly and not with punishment
-it does not teach anything - actually only to be uncertain about you.

It's not very different than a baby, they cry when they're hungry, we give them food - not "punishment"

At first, I might try to divert the behavior example with a toy
When Skye is busy with this and forgotten the food, you could throw a few pills from her food on the floor that she should find. (you has put them ready in the evening)
When pills are found and eaten, food is put down to her.

Only imagination sets limits.

I hear ya! It's a battle I chose not to fight - kind of regret it now - exactly because of the hotel issue! I vow to address it one of these days........

 

I actually feed raw and have everything pre-measured out as well. But I do have to separate my dogs before eating (since they decided they were going to try to kill each other over food) and as soon as that happens they know the food is coming!!!!!
