The Pyramin Pan is the perfect training treat maker! My mom picked this Silpat liner up for me because I make a lot of dog cookies. It has 2 sides the right side is raised and the wrong side is indented squares. The purpose of it is to cook without oil but I figured I could use the wrong side and using a wetter dough and use it like a mold. It worked perfect!
Because it's Silpat the cookies popped right out (baked at 350 for 10 minutes) and just the right size...no more cutting and drying! I love it!

You made your own treats? How? I am in awe - love that idea!

I honestly haven't bought dog treats in at least 2 years lol. I've made banana biscotti, pumpkin cookies, beef jerky, chicken jerky, sweet potato chips, liver treats, tuna fudge, and on and on!
I can now take a few ingredients and whip up a batch without using a recipe! I'm more into doing jerky and other meats...I don't like to use flour and even oatmeal is all carbs and carbs convert to sugar and sugar is something dogs don't need.
I also have a food dehydrator, that thing is awesome...I also use it to further dry the cookies after they come out of the oven, dries them really good so they keep longer (no preservatives so they'd go mouldy if any moisture in them).
But this pyramid pan did nice tiny treats, perfect for training. I'd usually make a tuna fudge (or liver or chicken), bake it, cut it up and then let it dry a bit. With this I eliminated all those steps!

I would treat recipes if you would be kind enough to share. I don't know if there is a private messaging feature on this site.

Where did the pyramid pan come from? Will go look on Amazon.

We start obedience in March, I'd love to get away from store bought treats - they are NOT cheap!

Edit - found it on the Bed, Bath and Beyond site - wahoo!!!!

I'm glad you found it Sandy! Your right...dog treats are NOT cheap, I can easily make 5 times as much for the same amount!

I don't mind sharing...I'll go through my recipes (many I don't use a recipe lol) and I'll post them here or under the recipe tab.
I like to use tapioca flour (also called tapioca starch) to make treats because it's a less crumbly treat (especially in the pocket). I have substituted chicken, liver pate, and even cheese for the tuna in tuna fudge. You just need to make sure it's soupy enough (if that makes sense...tapioca flour is like corn starch so it's a fairly wet mixture). That's my next project with the Pyramid pan so I'll measure everything good so I have the recipe for you lol.

Tapioca starch. In the IBD group someone mentioned using tapioca starch with meat for treats so I went looking for it and couldn't find any (and while I was out Tully got into my treat bag). Is it something from a health food shop?

Possibly...I know I get it from a bulk store here in Canada but I'm sure a health food store would carry it. It's also considered gluten free so I'd look on Amazon (or the grocery/bulk store) under gluten free flours.

I looked on Amazon Australia and they do carry tapioca flour (it's the same as the starch, just a different name) so perhaps if you have a bulk store around they'd carry too. It's usually kept in the gluten free section.
