Question about exactly where to wicket a pretty-much-over-sized Kel

Get a wicket that is accurate, such as one from Wickets by Mel. Then measure as everyone has suggested. It would be too easy for your homemade wicket to be inaccurate.

    New Champion

a bit late posting this. But Fletcher (Belmark Oreos and Cream) finished his AKC championship 3 weeks ago in Nashville. Fletcher turned 3 on August 30th. https://www.flickr.com/photos/139839861@N07/30162666114/in/dateposted-public/

Spirit's win picture came in the mail; I think it's his best picture yet..... http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/Bradt9881/media/image_zpsx8htakbg.jpeg.html?o=0

    growth spurt at 4 months...

Size in Shelties is just variable. My good friend had a litter with 2 undersized 12" dogs, 2 over at 17", and one at 14 1/2". It's a throwback to when we bred in rough collie genes, and have decended from little Nordic herding dogs and Poms.

Wiley 9 months: Coat growth question?? I have pictures!

I wouldn't worry, it's common for a puppy to shed its puppy coat in the spring.

    New Champion

My 11 month old puppy Spirit picked up his last point needed for his championship in th all breed show at West Palm Beach Saturday morning. He then was promoted to best of breed for the specialty that afternoon, where he got a 5 point major towards his grand championship when he was picked as...

    Toothpaste Suggestions?

I bought a dental scraper, and scrape the tartar off. That seems to keep them from having to go to the vet for cleaning.

    Shampooing for a show

If the black color on the dog is rusting out, you can use Chris Christiansen's black on black to bring the color back. I personally use Isle of Dogs #20 for general use.

    A good week

The past week has been pretty kind to me. First, Shadow Hill's Blue Thunder (Spirit) was Carolyn Ing's choice for winners dog Feb 5th at the Atlanta Specialty for a four point major. Spirit has 14 points and both majors, and needs just a single to finish. Then Belmark Oreos and Cream (Fletcher)...

Newbie with possibly a record-breaking list of questions

If you want to have some fun studying about 500 shelties at a specialty, set aside some time in April to fly to Reno for the ASSA Nationals. You will also get to meet a lot of the breeders that are producing some of the top shelties in the country, and there will be a lot of vendors there...

Newbie with possibly a record-breaking list of questions

A few pointers, from what I have learned over the past 2 years. One, the dog will need to be well socialized to crowded, loud places. Dog shows are noisy, scary places for a sheltie its cages banging and dogs barking. Take the puppy on frequent trips to Lowes and other dog friendly places. If...

    Celtic show weekend

Congrats on the major specialty reserve! That's the judge's way of saying, "show him to me again soon, he is ready to win".
