Hi all, thanks for the replies.
I talked to the vet.
He said that in Whisky's case, Cartrophen would be useless. He will consider it to potentially help the left rear leg, while Whisky is in rehab from the right leg.
He also told me that he bought some new surgical material that is...
I will inquire about pentosan injections.
Whisky is now 3, his dysplasia was diagnosed when he was 1.
He had issues early on in his life.
First, his front legs' bones grew at a different rate, so the bones «itched» (for lack of a better word), and he was standing funny and his legs...
After a couple of years of delaying the inevitable, it looks like Whisky's right rear leg is getting worse.
Srugery is probably going to be needed.
FHO is the solution for his dysplasia issues.
Anyone has experience with this?
Keep in mind, he has bilateral dysplasia, so I can only...
Oh, just my luck, I called the Chiropractor's professional association, and they told me that it was illegal, in Quebec province, to give chiropractic treatments as a vet. Oh joy. Yet it's not in Ontario.
There are chiropractor for dogs????
I asked my vet once, and I'm pretty sure he said that since the human and dog's skeletons were so different, chiro treatments would do no good.
WTF?
Took him to the lady who babysits him when we go away.
I let him out of the car, and he ran up the stairs to her door like his rear legs were 100% fine! :eek2:
Dunno if it's the Flexicose or the Omega 3 and 4 the vet sold me (I even stopped Rymadil altogether), but man is it cool to see...
Oh man is this sad.
Someone probably got fed up with his infection and simply threw him away like a dirty sock, whereas you took him under your wing, tried the best and made him feel special.
There is a place in heaven for people like you.
You did all you could for your little...
Indoors, that would be unpractical.
For the two steps in and out, he's already able to run up these again (they are not as steep), without knee problems.
So he's acting normal again, in a way.
I still pick him up when I can to relieve him from getting up those steps.
More update : for a couple of days now, Whisky has been able to go up the two steps leading to my house with his right knee dislocating. This is encouraging.
The few running steps he took elsewhere show that his left rear leg is still not moving «normally», it makes kind of a jerking...
