Kristi

I am a volunteer with SC Sheltie Rescue with a soft spot for older 'pairs'. My first two sheltie foster failures, Lacy and Snickers Too, were almost 13 and 12 when I got them. Then came two Copper(6) and Penny (8) from a breeder friend. Currently I am fostering two sheltie wanna be's that came into rescue - Roxie, a collie mix and Honey a golden retriever mix - who between 10 and 11 years old.

I have six sheltie angels I hope to reunite with one day: three lost to cancer - Skye (2012, at age 9 to atrial hemangiosarcoma); Snickers (2015, at age 10, to liver cancer) and Copper (2016, at age 9 to T-Cell Lymphoma); 2 lost to heart failure - Sunny (2012, at age 12.5) and Lacy (2016 at age 16) - and my very first sheltie, Storm to complications after a dental in 2003.

Every sheltie I've had has taught me something about life, love, loyalty, and courage. I'm humbled to have been their mom and hope that with the lessons they've taught me I can be a better dog mom and person.
