    Biting Bailey

Good advice - thank you. I will share that with my parents, and we'll need to decide how we want to train him so it'll be consistent. Also, if anyone wants a visual, here's what my little monster looks like now! He's a lot fluffier than when we rescued him. http://baileyblu.tumblr.com/

    Biting Bailey

Thanks for the response! The problem is, he mostly bites at our feet when we're walking away (definitely seems like a herding instinct to me). He tends to stop a little bit sooner when I face him, but it's never a sure thing. He's a very assertive little dog...sometimes it's just because he...

    Biting Bailey

Hello everyone - it's been a while since I've been on here! Bailey Blu is now just over a year old, and doing well. The only issue we've still been having is that he's a biter. When he gets in a bitey mood, he'll chase us around the house biting hard at our ankles & sometimes jumping up to...

    play biting

Biting a lot We're having a hard time getting Bailey to stop biting (he's about 7 mths old). He play bites, but also he's tried to snap at my nose a couple times. Then when i scolded him, he lunged back at me with his mouth. I'm trying to convince myself (and my parents) he's not being...

    Jagger

    New Jersey Sheltie Rescue Picnic

Thanks! I think the shelties are in the pens because their owners brought a whole bunch of dogs, so couldn't hold them all at once.... Also, some dogs there were available for adoption. Not sure which belonged to who though!

    House Training - age

Hi guys, So Bailey is about 5 months or so now, and we're still trying to figure out how to house train him better. He is down to about 1 accident in the house a day, but sometimes none and sometimes more. I think the problem is that he hasn't figured out how to tell us he has to go out...

    New Jersey Sheltie Rescue Picnic

Hope to make it! We live about an hour and 20 away, but we're hoping to bring little Bailey to meet the other shelties - he lovesss other dogs, but he hasn't met any shelties yet!

    Bald spots?

phew! Thanks for your comment. Luckily, my Dad took him to the vet this afternoon & it's nothing serious. He has mange (which apparently is very easy for pets to get, but not contagious to humans or other dogs). It doesn't bother most, kind of like dust mites that are everywhere, but he must...

    Bald spots?

I feel like I have a lot of questions lately.. We just noticed that Bailey has developed a couple balding patches on his back - no abrasions to the skin though. Have you heard about any issues with Frontline? We gave it to him last wk I think. He seems to be itching those areas with his hind...

    Biting Issues

size Still trying to figure out how old Bailey is. We thought he was around 9 wks or so when we got him from the rescue, which would make him around 13 wks. He's only about 6 lbs & while he's gotten much taller & mature looking, he's still so tiny. Anyone have a good guess...

    Blue-Eyed Poll

merled Bailey has 2 Merled eyes - each eye is brown on the right half & blue on the left half! It's funny to take photos of him from different sides!

Is there a sheltie tooth fairy?

baby teeth Just noticed that Bailey's bottom 2 front teeth have fallen out. I'm not sure when, but he's definitely been teething. Maybe that's why he's been teething less this week - because it's sore. He's only about 3 mths old (approximate, bc he's a rescue). Is that young? I can't remember...

    Biting Issues

Updates Just wanted to give a biting Bailey update - He is doing much better with the biting! (phew). He still nips a bit when he's excited to see us & can't quite help himself, but he doesn't chase us around with his sharp fangs, or gnaw at our ankles at the dinner table. We're still...
