So Piper is STILL anticipating the signals....driving me crazy! My trainer said to go back to doing the wait like in recalls, just leaving him and saying wait wait wait and returning and rewarding the wait.
When I do the signals and I say wait between the down and the sit then he won't sit! It's like he's forgotten what wait means (and I know they forget)!
Yesterday I just worked on the wait and later in the day I did one set of signals and he was good but I'm sure he's not over it yet. We have 6 more days until the trial...I think Piper takes pleasure in stressing me out lol.
Finnie, when I do his recall and call him comes running sooooo fast he slides between my legs and has to back up a few steps....he makes me laugh he's so exuberant about it!
And of course the judging schedule was posted and the person running this show has no clue. First trial goes from Utility through Pre-Novice then a break. Second trial goes from Pre-Novice through Utility...never mind the fact that Utility dogs NEED a fresh ring without all the smells from the other dogs, but I have to work evenings that day! I'm supposed to start at 3 (I work for a government run home care program) and there's no way I'll make it. Doubt we'll be done now until after 4! Only break is that it's Mother's Day and I'll have a few cancellations...plus I have very understanding clients and they know I do obedience with my dogs (but it's just another stressor). Plus this means I won't have time to take the dogs home before I head to work. At least the schedule has Utility A before B, so we won't be the last dog on....

I was reading in another post about Brace Obedience... never saw it before so I did a search on YouTube... looks like fun. That would be fun to see Piper and Finnie together!

Just watched it (I'm sure I saw it before) and perhaps by August Finnie would be ready (although I'm not sure they are offering brace. Right now I'm afraid Finnie would drag Piper around the ring if they were coupled together. Not only that but if I try to do a front with Piper if Finnie is around there's a huge competition for which dog can squeeze themselves in first lol. If nothing else it'd sure be funny to watch my two doing brace lol.

that is how I advertise team and brace- the entertainment classes
One time, Dixie pulled Cran when it was time for the recall. The judge and I had hoped that he would stay until called as she had broken during her novice class and we were both hoping that he would anchor her - but no, he came with her when she anticipated....
Not too many clubs offer the entertainment classes. I love brace and I'm in charge of our club's trial so we'll offer that until I retire from the chair position. we're having team this year but we'll be discussing its future as I had to work to get one team last year.

It certainly does sound like a lot of fun! Once Finnie is better I'd love to try it. I'll definitely keep my eye out for it.

long trip from Canada but November in Alabama would be balmy for you
