2o2o vs running contacts

I have 2 shelties. My youngest with 2o2o contacts and my older sheltie with a natural running a frame but no taught contacts. Because of his mild hd in his left hip the physio said the sudden stops at an angle wouldn't be good for his hip or even for their backs in general. What method for you use for contacts?

Do you use 2o2o for dog walk and running for a frame? I have been told 2o2o shouldn't be taught on the a frame because it is bad for their backs. My younger dog is light so when it comes to the seesaw he has to run to the end to make it tip so that isn't a problem.

I use 2o2o for both for Bentley and Lexi. Enzo does a running on the a-frame.

I have heard the same as you, that running is better for their bodies. But, I think some of it depends on the dog. I've seen dogs that slam into the 2o2o position, putting lots of pressure on their shoulder joints. I've also seen dogs that are really smart about rocking back, and the landing is much less jarring.

Thanks for your reply :)
Ye I think it really does depend on the dog. Shoka is tall and light so he doesn't have much trouble stopping. It almost comes naturally. I kind of need the stopped contact because I'm unfit and can't keep up with him haha. I've had to take a break from training fro a few weeks while I study for exams so it gives me more time to research before I decide.
