a lot of vets don't like doing older dogs. The reproductive tract is bigger. Once you use it, it does not return to like it was before. In addition older dogs tend to be fatter(yes even unspayed dogs). longer sx time and more supplies. yes also an incentive to do it younger.
Since older dogs are mostly what I do. It does not bother me. It is a difference of 5 mins usually. If they are obese that is a whole different ball game. I would actually charge more for that regardless of age.
