7 weeks puppy dont want to be alone

Hi All

As I mentioned last week, I got a little girl for mo mo on last Saturday.
I tried to put her in a crate at night, but she cry and bark very loudly when I locked her in crate, I'm worry it will make noise to my neighbour due to we live in a semi house. SO I have to sleep with her on sofa and she slept on her bed on the floor. Because I dont want to her to pee on my bedroom.
I tried to put her in a crate with door closed and sleep on the sofa, she still cried.
I need help how can I train her to sleep in a crate and is it too early to put her to sleep alone. Mo Mo can run all around the house at night.
She is Totally difference with mo mo, when I got Mo Mo at 7 weeks, he can slept himself wholte night whithout cried.
Is is realted that she is a girl.
Please advice.
 
I would think 7 weeks is too young for a puppy to hold it all through the night. Some puppies can, but a lot can't.

The rule is a puppy can hold their bladder equal to their age in months, plus 1 hour.

For example, if your pup is 2 months old, he can hold his bladder for about 3 hours.

This means you will have to take your 7 week old puppy out to go potty 1-3 times a night.

A puppy shouldn't be separated from their mother and littler mates until 8 weeks old. Your puppy is very young. Please, do not make him hold his bladder the whole night.

No I don't think it's because she is a female~

I guess without really knowing what kind of schedule for feeding & potty rountines,I don't have much to offer,other than what we do.

We're big routine folks here.These pups eat at certain times,so that helps me in the potty area,as they go well before they are settled for the night.
So my theory is:

I know my pups are full,ate good meals,early enough to allow them to poo well before bedtime.

I know they have had loads of excersise so they crash pretty easily

I know they have done thier last poo & pee for the night. And this mean's that I will wake my youngest puppy (14 weeks) from a sound sleep at 10-11pm at night,and he is escorted outside.

The bedding is absolutely washed every day.At that age,they tend to piddle sometimes in a crate.No dog will settle in a soiled crate.Just because you can't see anything,does'nt mean they have'nt piddled in there.
The crate liner is checked also.

I know that they are not sick,no temps.No physical reason why they should not settle.

FYI~ if she thinks that a bit of screaming,barking is going to send mommy on the run,and this results in a nice warm comfy bed to crawl into...she will keep you wrapped around her little paw,until you decide to put up with some sort of barking,noise,etc~

These dogs are very smart!

Our first night home with Trapp,he went in his crate. We put up with about 25 minutes of pretty intense noise,then it got less & less..till finally nothing.And he slept very well.
Next night,a fraction of the barking..and he settled.

Try putting her crate in your bedroom.Try putting a sheet over her crate,if you cannot get her closer to you (bedroom) then cover her crate,and find a nice quiet place in your house for her crate.

Try a filled Kong,with frozen yougurt,peanut butter,or other yummy treats.Sometimes a Kong vcan be your best friend

Try feeding her in the crate,put her dish in there,so she associates,the crate with something good.(every sheltie loves to eat)

As far as your neighbor...all it is going to take is probably one night,of a little tough love,and I'm sure she will settle.

P.S. not sure how old this puppy is,but if it's very young,it will not be able to hold its pee all night.It just probably is not going to happen.

The puppy needs to be with its mother and litter mates at 7 weeks old.

Option 1 and strongly recommended: If you can get it back to its pack for another 3 to 4 weeks, it will mature better and be a better dog for you.

Option 2: Get it with an older dog which has been matured correctly and is highly trained and plan on intensive work for the next 6 to 10 weeks of maturing it on your own and on into its first year.

And just good plain advice: Always seek professional counsel before buying a dog, if you are not versed in animal husbandry yourself and then within 24 hours of bringing home a dog, have the puppy checked by a vet, unless it is from a breeder you know and trust. And then said breeder should still advise you to seek a medical check up. Your vet should and would have told you that a 7 week old puppy is too young to be taken from its mother and pack.

This puppy was clearly to young to be taken from mom & siblings.Those weeks are so vital to a puppy.
I know with both of ours,they were both going on 10 weeks before we brought them home,and so glad that they were.

Of course like you said,knowing your breeder,and how these pups are handled make a huge differance.
 
we got Che at 7 weeks and he never made a peep and held through the night since the day one... do not have to be an expert on dogs, just have some common sense... what helped us we got tons of blankets and towels with mommy/littermates smell so pup was surrounded by his family smell for while...as when is the best to take the pup from the litter now it is recommended at 8 weeks but few years back they though as early as 6 weeks is good to go... depends on maturity of the pup, circumstances, size of the litter, etc.
sure by taking pup earlier you get to do more work, but if your pup from large litter and fairly confident, 7 weeks is good time to start, especially if your breeder is not introducing your pup to potty training, crate training and all those 7 surfaces etc...
try taking cover off the crate/am talking about plastic one with top and bottom part/, put crate next to your bed and hug the pup with one hand.... uncomfortable but will get you both some sleep...
