A Reprieve

Misty was due to have surgery this coming Monday to remove her spleen and the tumor there, which we found a few weeks ago during her first gallbladder ultrasound. Yesterday we saw the surgeon again for a last ultrasound before the surgery.

To everyone's shock, the tumor is smaller!

The vet suggested postponing the surgery and checking her again in three months. But (you knew there'd be a but...) she doesn't like the way Misty's gallbladder looks so Misty is now also on Ursidiol -- she makes the third in my house -- and they will check that again in three months as well.

After months of surgeries and tumors for my dogs, this was the absolute best news. I'm hoping this tumor will be gone when she's checked again. For now, I'll gladly take the reprieve! Misty says she will too!

Thank God! I'm hopeful the worm has turned in the saga of sick shelties in this group!
Because of Misty, I specifically asked for a spleen check too when they were scanning Benny. The tech told me they had just done a splenectomy on a sheltie a few months back. No tumor on spleen but they did see a node on the liver they think was an artifact.
