Accidents in the house all of a sudden

Ok, we have a soon to be 9-year old sheltie - Nigel - who for going on 5-6 years has never pooped in the house, and all of a sudden, in the past 4-6 weeks, he's had multiple accidents. Can't think of any change in the routine at all.

He's home alone usually on Tues-Thurs during the school year from 7:30 to around 4. Sometimes this happens at night, sometimes during the day.

No change in food. Did have updated shots a few weeks ago. Vet says he's healthy.

Could he be eating something outside? Do we need to walk him more? Go back to the crate when we're gone?

Looking for any advice from folks who may have been through this before.

Thanks!

Hi there~

You might want to make sure Nigel doesn't have a UTI of sorts since he's having accidents in the house. If you are giving plenty of exercise and opportunity for potty breaks it might be worth looking into just as a precaution .

2 days - better so far

Nigel had a parasite and is on meds to get rid of it. After 48 hours, seems much better, and no accidents. Peace is being maintained, hopefully it will stay that way!!!
