Akc fast

One of my Monday classmates is an AKC agility judge and my instructor asked him to put togther a presentation/courses on FAST tonight for some of our new agility people. I myself have never run FAST or gamblers of any sort because I have only run AKC and UKC so it was a new thing for me too.

He talked about the rules and scoring and stratery and then gave us a course map to run and he would score us like a fun match. I found it very interesting and really liked the stratergy part of figuring out my course.

I ran Ember first figuring I would use the slower dog to get the feel of it. The gamble was easy if your dog could go away from you, a jump straight away to a curved tunnel along the side of the ring in three sided box. Ember did quite well. I pulled her out of the weaves and pulled her so she ran by the A frame because I was pushing her for speed and knew with the course I had plan if I didn't we wouldn't be near the finish. As it was the whistle went off when she was 2 strides from the last jump. She scored 61 points. Not bad for her and I first time.

Then I got Diva. Well Diva has decided this FAST thing is the greatest thing ever invented. Mom runs fasts and she can run full out bause even though I care were she goes , I really don't. :smile2: I ran my whole course then looked around for more and then headed for the last jump just as the whistle sounded. As I turned to race out , I lost my balance and I felt myself starting to fall, 2 or 3 more steps trying to get my balance and down I went.(no video) While I was falling I had sent Diva ahead and she sailed over the finish then turned around and raced back to me barking to see if I was dead. I gave her the yeah hands laying flat on my stomach. Diva bounced up and down as I move my hands, barking. She ended up getting 77points. Sweet. That little dog was hauling. :smile2:

Now I really have the urge to go and find a FAST class or do some gamblers. Diva needs to hurry up and go into season so I can enter something again.

That sounds fun! Glad both Ember and Diva seemed to enjoy it, too!

Hope you aren't feeling too sore this morning.

What is with everyone falling recently? In the span of about a month or two DH and I both fell running, Irene fell and hurt herself, and now you fall!

Glad Diva came to check on you! I can just picture her bouncing around you

FAST was one AKC class I wanted to try for the longest time but very few trials in the area were offering it. I finally got to try the game this year and it was a lot of fun... OK, Edan and I having distance work from playing Gamblers and Jackpot helped make it fun. :o

Like Novice Standard and JWW, the Novice FAST courses are usually super easy. When you get into Open and Excellent, the challenge really escalates. This assessment is based on me looking at course maps for Open/Excellent vs Novice not actual experience. I haven't made it back to an AKC trial since earning my NF to try Open FAST.

I'm glad Diva and Ember enjoyed the game and glad you are OK after your fall. I can just picture you having your celebration while flat on your belly. Always the dogs needs before ours!

River finished his NF in three straight, and he has one open FAST leg. I didn't plan to go any further with it, but I think he is entered again next weekend. It is fun.

oh and don't forget Cheryl, too! lol
I TOLD you guys, it's an epidemic! haha
SO PLEASE all you agility geeks, be careful...

Holy moly that is a LOT of points! Go Ember and Diva (and you too of course). FAST is pretty easy and fun too. A LOT easier than any other venue, which for me, makes it fun. With that much points, your pups should fly though easily. And probably get 1st place too. lol.

bummer about falling. I hope you're feeling better today. I'm sure you'll be sore tomorrow, so be sure to ice and rest.

I can't say I hurt myself falling, but I've gone done enough times. So embarrassing. At least Diva finished then came back to you. :) Like Ember, Koji would've run off or barked at me saying "where my treat!!!".

Oh, right, sorry! I had thought you hurt yourself falling, you're just one of the many of us with knee bracers, lol
:rolleyes2::razz:

We got all the points from the obstacles except the other side of the A frame which was 3 pts and no time faults as I couldn't find anything else and figured I was close to time. Diva jumped and I fell just as the whistle went off.

I will probbly never score that high again  especially in a real trial. Diva really had the after burners on. I have never seen her run that fast. I knew she had it in her but have never seen it. She listened beautifully and hit everything fast. It is going in my memory has an almost perfect run. All except the falling part.:wink2: It was a real high. .

I am not really sore today just have a nice bruise on my shin.
