I read through this article even though, like the author in Las Vegas, we in the sonoran desert don't have to deal with these pests.
But I thought maybe some Sheltie Nation folks would benefit from a one stop shopping, so to speak, for safer products to handles fleas/ticks/ etc.:

Another option Margi is apple cider vinegar. I give my dogs a teaspoon a day with their food…natures repellent! Works from the inside out! And good for them as well. Some add it to their water but my dogs eat everything so it goes in their food.

also…the med listed in the article ‘imidacloprid’ is the one ASSA mentions to avoid…they’re not 100% certain but some studies have suggested it may have something to do with the gallbladder mucoceles. Stay away from anything with that in it.
