And for this little fella (12 pounds) he did remarkable.
Angus is just one week from a year old and I wanted to see how he would do around some sheep before driving hours on end to an ability test as there are not many that are close to me. My niece and nephew have their 4H sheep and so we were visiting them and I though why not see how he does.
The sheep are nearly full size now, and he was not afraid. Granted these are bottle fed friendly, calm sheep, but he went and sniffed noses with them and then we started playing with the sheep. He did very well, he learned the game quickly that I wanted him to take them into the shed. My niece would get them out in the pen again from the shed and he'd take them up to the shed again.
I was quite impressed, he was a gentleman at herding. Followed them closely at their rear and pushed with his body. Was not a crazy barker (actually he didn't bark once - but he is a rather rare barker for a sheltie) or nipper at all.
My sister in law took some video and pictures and I will post them to this thread when she sends them to me.
I will be excited to attend an instinct herding test in the future.
Also, he herded their chickens......they were much more reactive than the sheep, who were pretty calm!

I'd love to one day get involved in herding. But I gotta keep reminding myself, ONE DOG SPORT AT A TIME!!!
Your boy looks like he's having a lot of fun! Can't wait to see video!
