Anxiety attack?

I am caring for my sister's sheltie, Nevis, for the next six months During a lengthy thunderstorm last night, Nevis had a severe anxiety attack (heavy panting, shaking). She jumped into the bathtub and whimpered. I gave her Benadryl and it calmed her (hope I did the correct thing!). I have gone through several of these events with her, and I am feeling uncertain if there are other remedies for her attacks besides meds.

A friend told me this morning that there is a shirt that might help Nevis when she becomes anxious. Is anyone familiar with a product like this? This shirt "cuddles" the dog and provides comfort.

I could use some thoughts on what I could do to calm this upset sweetie.

I recently purchased the "Thundershirt" for Maggie due to her fear during thunderstorms. I must tell you it has helped her ALOT. She is still fearful, growls and paces somewhat, but, before I bought it she would bark and growl while running panicky around the house!
 
one of my pups is somewhat reactive to thunderstorms, he just goes into the crate I put my clothing to cover it and it does the trick. You can you the crate into bathtub if you have to. Thundershirt is great product, now it is avail in many pet stores. Bach rescue remedy works well on anxiety. Good holistic med is Lactium, I got one from Swanson vitamins, helps with noise sensitivity well. Depending how severe fear of thunder you might get away with thundershirt or will need some additional things.
