At my wits end, please help!

About three weeks ago or so, I looked after Punkin's littermate, GraceE. GraceE has always been the complete opposite of Punkin--very barky, high strung, etc. While GraceE was here, she would start barking and running around the house and Punkin would naturally join in. I was hoping that the behavior would resolve when GraceE left....it has not.

She will be in the middle of chewing her bullystick and all of sudden spring to her feet and race through the living room barking as loud as she can. She charges the fireplace glass and then all at once...stops.

I'm at my wits end with this new behavior that has no apparant trigger.

Please, your advice just might save my sanity!

My first thought about the fireplace glass is that she sees her reflection and thinks there is another dog. At night, Meggie will sometimes bark at her reflection in the slider.

I haven't had a great deal of luck with reducing the amount of barking in the house, but we have two dogs here. When Meggie is alone it is quiter, but she does start barking at the drop of a hat sometimes. I think she has super sensitive hearing. Have you tried a can with pennies or a water gun? I had better luck with the water gun, but others are suggestion with the "quiet can."
 
Could it be the dreaded teenage phase? Bailey just turned 7 months and she's being such a terror. I think she's becoming a gasp...teenager :eek2:

Teach him "settle" There are posts on this already

Agreed
I taught Toffee settle, as well as Scotty, the hyper Poodle... If they can learn it so can Punkin!! lol, poor Teenager
