balm for pads

Does it hurt when the pads are rough?

Sadie has shown no signs of her pads hurting her and they're pretty rough. I thought rough pads was a good thing though? I figured that rough pads were like having calluses, that they'd protect the feet from sharp things, heat and cold?

I see no issue with rough pads either. Only cracked or broken would be a major concern to me. Or if I found pup obsessively licking.

I tend to agree with your callous theory! I've been wearing high heels for so many years, I think I could walk on hot coals and not feel it! :lol:

p.s. have to interject here with a silly story. Years ago, my ex-husband attended a "sales motivational" session put on by his company ("You can do anything you put your mind to"!). They started the day breaking boards with the bare hands, then moved on to fire-walking. Well, myself and many other wives found ourselves bringing our hubbies to the hospital with 2nd degree burns on the bottom of their feet! The only ones to come through totally unaffected....yep! the women sales reps! Callouses on the feet protected them! :biggrin2:
 
Neither one of them are hurting, or cracked pads. I quess all this darn ice we had got me thinking again. I have to quit thinking about sheltie stuff like this, I thought maybe the pads should just be conditioned.

Well Whoopie we are going into the 50s (if the weathermen get that right) I will let you know if a big old white fluffy cloud ends up on my steep driveway. That ice was so thick we had it was ridiculous. I kept the puppers close on the patio.

Barb that is so funny about the men. Your poor husband!

The guine pig just runs around...she is only friends with my great pyr...they like to touch noises.
 
sable, no allergy meds needed for a chinchilla. They don't mess with your allergy at all, like some animals do. BUT some people have allergys to their dust bath.

As for playing, they run and jump. Mine have wheels they run on. Oh, and they wall bounce! That is soooo cool to watch! They will take off running, jump, and kick the wall and bounce off! :lol: They are neat little pets.

Grey sheep, huh? Well, I guess I'll find out if Fiona thinks the same thing when she gets here! LOL
