Belly rubs!

Gavin loves his belly rubs....he needs several a day
It seems to be part of his excited greeting of me and other human friends.
He won't start to calm down until after he gets his rubbin'....

I know I can't be alone...right?

Strange as it may seem, Dickens doesn't particularly care for being touched. He'll put up with about fifteen seconds or so of being stroked or petted, then he wants to get away from it, and don't even bother trying to touch his head; he hates it! His breeder had a policy of taking the young pups at about four to six weeks and giving them "touch" sessions, but at least in his case I'm not too sure that wasn't counterproductive.

Now if you pick him up and hold him backward in your lap he'll let you give him a tummy rub, but at 43 pounds it's just a bit awkward!

Annie Laurie adores tummy rubs -- sprawls on her back every morning on the bed! But the others prefer to have "upstanding tummy rubs" where they arch their backs like a cat.

Layla and I made a New Year's resolution for her: "More tummy rubs, Mom!"

Shelby likes her belly rubs in the morning. She also is not a big touchy feely kind of dog unless she is tired or not feeling well. So in the morning I lay on the floor with her and she will roll over for a belly rub. She will also do the standing belly rub with the arched back.

Hollie on the other hand loved having her belly rubbed. When I would get out of the shower she would be on her back waiting for a belly rub, she also learned to stand over your feet (when propped up on a stool, or if your legs were crossed) and scratch her own belly on your feet by moving back and forth. Just like the cows scratch their own backs on the back scratchers in he barn. I don't know who taught her that trick

Deska rolls over for belly rubs from everyone we meet (after he's backed into them for a butt rub). I tell him he's a little belly tart.
