We don't know if we should call Laddie a big Sheltie or a small Collie. LOL

Seriously, he weighs 14 1/2 lbs. at 12 1/4" tall and three months plus three days old.

Laddie is growing hair as though it might go out of style. He is even growing "Pants".

Chip has always had a heavy coat since he was a little squirt.

Chip at 13 weeks.

Laddie at 13 weeks.

That was Dickens at the same age, and he grew out to 20.5 inches and 43 pounds. Not to worry, though: big Shelties seem to have a much calmer temperament, and it goes without saying that they're beautiful (even though Dickens was the homeliest Sheltie pup you'd ever see until he hit six months).

I'm pretty sure that the size is on account of the Rough Collie that was bred into them at some point.

I got Beckon, aka Colonel Underpants, because at 10 weeks, he was already off the scale! Now he's 18" and weighs 40 pounds -- no fat!!

My bigger girls were not as prissy as Kaleigh & Savannah-they have a prancy, bouncy style my bigger girls didn't display.

Savannah has more attitude than all of 'em, and I think it is her smaller size Kaleigh is laid back but my previous two were calm, not as reactive, but more alert and protective. And sad to say WAY smarter. But all of them coated up pretty fast, it had to be the environment, it gets colder in the mts. If I was younger and stronger, I would go for the bigger gals. But at this stage in life, I can't be hoisting up heavier shelties. It was really hard on me lifting my previous girl in her last days-she was dead weight some days and that was tough getting her up and out. So I am glad my lil monsters are more portable. Savannah is always mistaken for a puppy because of her smaller scale, petite size..

Most of the shelties I knew in years past, were on the bigger end of the scale. I think Laddie is just like those I use to know and have. My bigger ones lived long healthy lives. I hope my present girls have that history. Good looking boys you have...
