Bitch with stricture

To cut a long story short, my bitch was checked by a vet for strictures prior to mating. When mated we had a slip and then did an AI, during the AI it was discovered that she actually had a stricture.

Now she is in whelp and I'm beside myself with worry, has anyone had any experience (or know anyone who has) with a bitch having a natural whelping with a stricture? Or should I be looking at an elective c-section? Or try for natural and then possible emergency c-section?

It's a circumferential stricture which is probably about 2 mm in circumference so easy to get a finger past.

Any suggestions or help would be so very much appreciated. I'm beside myself with worry :-(

Cheers

I'm not a vet but I'll play one temporarily here: Take your bitch to your own vet and have him/her help you determine the best course of action. Even the most detailed H&P won't be enough for any of the vets here to tell you exactly what to do and in what sounds like a particularly time-sensitive situation, you're probably best off having your bitch evaluated in-person so anything that needs to be can be addressed at the time of the exam.

Hope all goes well for everyone, and puppy/mom pictures are always welcome!

Thanks, I've been to my vet and also to a repro vet and been given advice. I'd like to hear from someone who has had hands on experience with a Sheltie with a stricture. I'm advised that it is possible to have a natural mating so I'll be taking this route, but that the first puppy might take a bit of work/be difficult, so I'm looking for anything that will help with this process.

I have read raspberry leaf given in the last 3 weeks helps and I'll be looking into that further.

Cheers
Sandra
