Kudos for you Lisa! After being attacked by our neighbors pittie breed that I cared for since he was a puppy, I would have turned around and left. Actually, I probably would have been close to peeing myself in fear - I am terrified of them now. Unfortunately, it isn't 'just' the ones who may have been mistreated, I feel ANY pittie breed has a higher propensity to just snap. Years ago, my hygienist had 2 raised from puppies, she was all over the 'they are loving if treated right' until she came home from work one day and her female had totally shredded her male all over her house. She would never again get near one... I just don't think they can be trusted and the dog attacks on record sorta back that up. I hate to have a breed be 'banned' but feel pittie breeds have earned their banning.

I would have been terrified for Blueberry. It would only take a second for that dog to have decided to snap and she could have ended Blueberries life in a single bite. It only takes seconds for an attack to happen - to pet or human. I feel it would be okay for that clerk to have the dog there, but behind the counter CHAINED. Dogs can jump over gates, over counters. Very irresponsible of the owner, and I'd say she's a crap 'trainer' if she doesn't know what her dog is capable of.

I never heard back from the store from when I emailed them so that was quite surprising. I also never heard back from the city and need to call to see why I never received a call from animal control. I want to know did they follow up with it or not. I’m going to call them this morning.
I won’t be returning to this store, it just worries me for other customers who aren’t aware of this store’s standards of care…or lack thereof.

Agree with you 110 percent. I've heard so many horror stories about pitbulls, especially with Shelties, that I don't want my dogs or me near them. It's too late when the "sweet affectionate pet" turns bad.

I know it would shock everyone to hear that Sca liked the American Bulldog that raced flyball. The dog got a lifetime ban for being aggressive. Part was the team/owners fault as when he got the first warning they did not pull the dog for the rest of the tournament (something most teams would do) No telling if it was a permanent thing as the dog was new. However the fact they did not respond very proactively made me glad to see the dog gone despite how upset the owner was.

Sca: Well that would be bad for your digestion so I will check back with you next tournament buddy.

One of the problems is that like the friendly Golden that attacked my dog years ago- you can never tell what will trigger them. The golden that nearly killed my medium sized dog was a "nice" dog and it took two adults to get him to release my poor old dog-- the neighbor that helped me said he had never seen that dog do that.. if that had been a "never let go Pit" my dog would probably been dead or I would have killed the Pit to let him release my dog??? As a bicyclist who has been attacked by a very determined Pit I have no love for the breed at all- and I know people who have them and do love them and call them sweetie but not around my dogs please. It is not their fault that they were developed to do what they do and unfortunately incompetent unknowable people often end up with them and bad things happen.
