Piper's mom

Bizarre…Blueberry has hated car rides and would fight me tooth and nail just getting in the garage, never mind the car!
Last week she went for 2 car rides…once on her birthday and Thursday to the vet (actually 3 because I was too early for the vet appointment so we went home and back). Each time I took her to the garage with her leash and collar on (to get her in the garage) but opened the car door to let her jump in on her own. It took her a minute or two to encourage her to jump in (she ran around the car) but did go in.
Yesterday afternoon I asked Piper if he wanted to go for a car ride and Blueberry started barking at me…very pushy…ME ME ME…so I asked her if she wanted to go and it was a resounding YES (running to the door). She allowed me to put her collar on (normally this is the cue to run away) and when I opened the door she RAN to the garage and then quickly jumped in the car once I caught up to her!
I’m hoping now that she actually enjoys them maybe I can take her for more and we can actually get her over her carsickness.
Amazing how she suddenly decided it was fun…I wonder if it was going to 3 different pet stores on her birthday that helped turn the switch…she really did 5 car rides when you separate them all.
It is possible to change…it just takes trial and error….it only took 5 years
