Last Friday Davina earned a few OTCh points, a couple of firsts, a second, and a HIT. We trialed in a coliseum and I have to say I'll never do it again. The noise was so loud with the obedience rings set up between the conformation rings and grooming area. Noise from the dogs and blow dryers and we couldn't hear the judge at all. If we didn't need to hear the judge, then the ring setup would have been okay. We took 1st in Utility and 2nd in Open. We had a run off for High Combined, but the other team couldn't hear the judge so they got a re-do and well, the second time you heel a pattern the better the team performs. No big deal, there are certainly many High Combines in our future. The second trial of the day was almost a disaster. Davina earned first in Utility but Open was a wash. I just couldn't hear the judge at all. Groomers were blow drying 3 Sammies against the obedience ring gate. I couldn't hear anything but the blow dryers.
Saturday we trialed closer to home at a local club's facility. We had a great run but the judge didn't call our competing number for a run off, but did call others. I figured I must have blown the class with handler errors. Lo' and behold we won the class with a 197. Utility was held after lunch so by then I wanted a nap. Davina loves Utility but her finishes were slow. We got hit hard for them and therefore took 2nd place with a 196.5.
We got involved in a run off for High Combined and won!!
Sunday we trialed at the same venue as Saturday. Davina was on top of her game for Open. She was in her grove and I just held on! Don't get me wrong, we still made mistakes but Davina was almost to the point of barking. She was over the top happy. There was another run off and I felt sure we would have been called for it, but not so. We earned first place again with a 197. For Utility, I made some handler errors and Davina had a slight off center front and a slow finish but we managed to pull it together. We tied for first place with a 196.5 and therefore had another run off. We didn't win the run off, took 2nd place.
We managed to earn the High Combined award again.
I haven't totaled our OM points yet, but I know we're pretty close to earning the title. We have 4 UDX legs and need 6 more for that title.
