I just had Shadow to the chiropractor and boy was he out in three spots. I usually have him go every three months.Does anyone else here take there dogs to get ajusted?

I take Gio every couple of months and after every seizure. The seizures are strong enough that they can put his back out of place, which in turn can cause another seizure. So I take him in within a couple days of a seizure, and every couple of months in between for maintanance.

I've run into a bit of a sticky issue, though. I want to take Romeo in regularly to make sure everything is where it should be now that he is getting more active with agility and I'm really starting to push his heel posture up. There are not any dog-specific chiropractors around here, so I've been taking Gio to a human chiro that does the work after-hours for free. Recently, there has been a stink raised from the vet community about human chiros working on dogs, so none of the human chiros around here are accepting any new patients. The guy that I take Gio to will continue to see his current patients for emergency situations, but is not taking new patients. So I will need to have a chat with him next time Gio goes in to see if Gio and Romeo can count as the "same patient" because they have the same owner.

Shadow was out in the rib area, the atlas and his hip was out. I can always tell when he needs to go because he will pop out at the weaves.Usually, he is out in the pelvis.I would not worry about Romeo till you actually start competing. Can you check out horse vets in your area as they sometimes do chiropratic work on them also? Also check sometimes clubs sponsor's clinics.

There are chiropractor for dogs????

I asked my vet once, and I'm pretty sure he said that since the human and dog's skeletons were so different, chiro treatments would do no good.

WTF?

Are there dog chiropractors?

YES, there are. Some chiropractors have gone through extra schooling to specifically adjust animals like dogs, cats, horses etc. Not all vets 'believe' in chiropractic so will not refer to one, plus they don't know what chiropractic can help.

Oh, just my luck, I called the Chiropractor's professional association, and they told me that it was illegal, in Quebec province, to give chiropractic treatments as a vet. Oh joy. Yet it's not in Ontario.

You could go to this web site and email or call them and find out if there is any chiropractors that adjust animals in your area. www.animalchiropractic.org
Here in Manitoba, it is illegal for chiropractors to adjust animals without a vet present, but the chiro. that does adjust animals, the vets know him and let him do it on his own and he sees animals, mainly dogs, on Tuesdays.

Alright, thanks, but Quebec lawmakers are idiots. Because of that, surely no chiro can and will touch an animal, or has ever thought of it.
