Code for making paragraphs?

Hi, I just joined here, and wondered if someone could help me with HTML codes for the forums. My "enter" key is broke on my laptop, and I use this code <P> to make paragraph breaks on most other forums I visit, but it doesn't seem to work here. Anyone have any suggestions? Would the HTML tags from the above link help? I've never used those before. Thanks for reading.
 
This forum doesn't use HTML, it uses bbcode. It's usually [br][/br] for a line break, but that doesn't seem to work.
