We are blessed with a pair of 5 year old Sheltie sisters and I refer to all of their beautiful cascading Shetland fringe as their Scottish kilt
Our mahogany sable,*Emily* has long, silky fur and her plumed tail and *kilt* very nearly touch the floor.
Our tricolor,*Sadie* has rather thick puppy~soft fur and when she has her full winter coat, she resembles a little bear cub!
I absolutely LOVE grooming them every day and they love being groomed {although my little Sadie's dense coat is sometimes a bit of a challenge}
I often nearly fill a paper grocery bag with their fluffy *down* and I always sprinkle it all around in our woods.
My husband and I love to watch the birds and chipmunks and squirrels gather the tufts to add to their ordinary nesting materials and at dusk one recent evening, Sadie + Emily alerted us to a beautiful raccoon gathering some of their fuzzy stuff.
Even the teeniest of wild critters appreciate our comfy gift ~
when the snow has finally melted away in the late spring, we always find the cutest tiny field mouse nests, thickly lined with our Sheltie's soft fur and tucked waaay into the crevices of our stone wall

Glad to donate to nature. One time I forgot their brush outside and the birds started picking the fur right out of the brush. I thought that was so cute.
