Corneal Dystrophy

My Ellie Mae was diagnosed with having Corneal Dystrophy in March. Since then she has been on Optimmune twice a day and also tear gel when needed. She has also been switched to a low-fat diet of Purina OM. Doing those three things seems to be helping her but I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with this disease. Thank you.
 
I can't say I've dealt w/ Corneal Dystrophy, but I am happy to ask around w/in our rescue network and w/ other Sheltie friends....What are symptoms? I wish you the best!!
 
We had a bitch with it. We just kept the eye goo for when the ulcers got bad. No diet change required (but she also had juvenile kidney disease, so that took priority).
 
I had a bitch develop it after being bred and fed a higher fat puppy food...She was I think 3 at the time...Shes 7 now, still the same size and has never really bothered her or got worse. I have heard where they can ulcerate so you may want to keep eye medication on hand to help with the pain associated with it...

You can do a lower fat diet they say it may help, I havent done that though.
