I just love Susan Garrett,as many of you also are familiar with her training methods.most recently many have talked about "Crate Games". So while watching one on YouTube today,I came across a few I thought were awesome.

Lots of new pups recently, and I do think even for older pups, having difficulty with comfort levels in the crate, the videos may be some help.

Thank you Barb, for suggesting I post them here.
Enjoy

I love SG video's! Thanks, I'll get started on this. Bobby and I play the 'kennel' game and I can send him from anywhere in the house to his kennel. It makes a nice "safety" game too...

Thanks! That one worked.

I've taught those games to my three. Toby and Ginny are both excellent at 'Its your choice' and Ginny especially loves the crate games. :smile2:

from the person who spent $$$$ on SG teaching CG are invaluable and are great tool! I only regret that I did not start Che on it earlier and let him drive the bus for too long, I have much better success with Leo who has not has as much history of driving said bus...
If Toby knows IYC basics why not take it into real world? Will he sit in open crate if you drop his favorite chewy bone in front of him? What about fresh chicken drumstick? What about favorite toy? Running cat? slamming oven door? It is same IYC game... same principle... One huge thing I like about SG training it is like a tennis match- I ping pong into my dog's corner and wait ... and it is always a dog's CHOICE...
my pups are still in stage 3 and will run after running cat:eek2: but we are working on it:lol:

That's what I've been saying, I've tried working on it in real situations but it doesn't work for him when he's really freaked out. He stops thinking and comprehending the world around him. The panic takes over, unless I'm right next to him. :(

Now that Zoey is in adolescent stage, we've been using the crate as a tool to help us redirect Zoey's seperation anxiety when we go downstairs or outside the house. It ressembles a bit the crate games; we tell Zoey to go in the crate and have her wait in there while my boyfriend or I go outside and reward when the person is back. She's effectively stopped barking at us when we go outside, but it's still wip.

We've also noticed that since we've been using the crate to redirect bad behaviors, Zoey's been more fond of her crate. She'd typically go in her crate only to sleep at night, but sometimes during the day when we're in the house she will go in her crate on her own. These are definitely good videos.
