I trained Rocky using puppy pads. He did very well...but now poor pupper is confused at 3 years old. He thinks my area rugs in the den are puppy pads and will occassionally use the area rugs as puppy pads if we are out of the house for a while (even though we have a doggy door out back) They kind of worked originally, but now that he is older he thinks the area rugs are puppy pads and uses them if he is left alone in the house alone for a while

I'm not fond of puppy pads either....I think it only confuses the matter. What happens when you finally take the pads away? In my friend's case, the dog just started to pee in the same spot where the pads used to be.

I like the idea of trying the crate in the bedroom - my pup always sleeps with me in his crate and I've been fortunate never to have a whimper out of him.

I am also considering the combined Xpen/crate for Bacca as Jan244 suggests as he is doing pretty well on his training and I'm just about ready to try him a slightly larger area, but nowhere chewable - that's NOT under control yet.
