From the get-go, Lady has been an entrenched poop eater. I had never had my own dog or a sheltie. When she was a young pup I would always go out with her. She knew I would grab it as soon as it landed, so she would turn her butt towards her mouth so she could catch it as it came out! OMG, I thought, is this typical sheltie behavior?
As the snow is finally melting here, she has been out enjoying flash-frozen, newly defrosted droppings from herself and her brother Sparky. She comes in with poop breath. Has anyone thought of a beverage that dogs could ingest that would freshen their breath?
Sparky has seen Lady going after poop so he has tried it for himself. He is not as entrenched as she is, but unfortunately he follows her lead, for better or worse.
These are the same two dogs who won't take a chewable pill, won't eat a baby carrot, but will go after a cold, dry, well aged piece of poop.
I was out on poop patrol a little while ago. Now that Spring is in the air, I hope the smell of poop is not.
