De-Worming Process

It's been 17 days since we brought our Sheltie puppy home.
After taking our Torney to the vet for the first time, we got the result of his fecal test for parasites.
The vet said there were two parasites in his poo and is going to give us medicines for treatment.
What I am worried about is... should I do something for our apt for cleaning?
Such as washing his blanket that he sleeps on, wiping down the floors, tables, counter tops, etc. for any possible ways that the parasites can affect us?
We always wash our hands after cleaning his poo but I'm kind of concerned that we have to take precautions for our contamination.

Thank you!

I've never done the big things when my pups have been wormed - Maybe wash their blankets.
(It is very normal that puppies may have worm)

This is a really good question. Honestly, we've never taken special precautions (beyond the basics - wash hands after cleanup, wash bedding regularly, etc.). I'd ask your vet; s/he will definitely be able to give you an answer.

Very few canine parasites can affect us. However, there are a few, such as roundworms. Humans can also get giardia, but it's rare to catch it from a dog because the infectious strains are different between dogs and people. Without knowing which two your pup has I can't tell you, but you can check www.petmd.com for more information.

I would wash your puppy's bedding and blanket when he starts treatment. It's also a good idea to keep some baby wipes handy and give his butt a wipe when he comes in. Once you treat the parasites, he should be fine.
