I'm sort of looking at this process as "hedging my bets". Quite frankly I don't believe that things like getting water from the breeder will ultimately turn out to be necessary either. But, on the odd chance that my next companion is the "quirkiest" of all "quirky" Shelties, I am willing to try any/all possible scenarios to make our transition as smooth as possible (within reason). Heck, I would do the happy dance in the back yard in the buff at midnight on a full moon if it meant that I could eliminate some of the weird problems that many of you so colorfully discuss on these pages.
NOW - - I thought you had lost your mind when I read that "flavored water" comment you posted until I read that you meant "dirt flavored". Heck, I had visions of you chained to the kitchen counters squeezing oranges and lemons into Cranberry's water bowl while he nipped at your heels until I read on a little further. That was another one of those "spitting soda all over the keyboard" moments.
glad that I could lighten the mood there

we'd be using cranberry juice to flavor the water- no citrus fruits
