I was using ginger snaps cookies I got in the grocery store, but decided all that sugar probably wasn’t good idea.
I’m not sure if the ginger really does help for car sickness but the only time Sadie gets one of these is when she gets in and out of the car. I have notice with either the store bought cookies or these she has not been foaming at the mouth or throwing up in the car. Yippee…
Now instead of fighting getting in the car, she’s jumping into the backseat looking for that gingersnap!
Doggie Ginger Snaps
• 3/4 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
• 3/4 Cup Unbleached Flour
• 1 Tablespoon Ground Ginger (yes 1 Tablespoon)
• 1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
• 1/4 Teaspoon Cloves
• 1/4 Cup Molasses
• 1/4 Cup Water
• 2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a mixer or food processor. Mix until a thick dough forms. Roll out on a floured surface.
Roll out and cut out into desired shapes using your favorite cookie cutter. Bake for 10-15 minutes or longer, will depend on the thickness of the dough and the size of cookie cutter you have used.
NOTE: I used a 2” cutter and rolled the dough about ¼” thick and baked them for about 12 minutes. (Made about 40 cookies) I also freeze them and only take them out as a reward for riding in the car as that is what we are trying to change behavior on right now, hoping she will start loving the idea of car rides.
enjoy………
