Doggie seat belt vs. crate

Nutter when driving

This is interesting. I have seat belt connectors hooked onto my dogs harnesses. But Tully drives me nuts with leaping around and barking at cars (she sometimes steps on the buckle and unhooks the belt too). I try to crate her but its hard to get her in and out of the crate (and not really enough room). I was thinking of making a box with wood and fly wire screen to keep her down.

The RSPCA issued an interesting stat last year in Australia 5,000 dogs were killed or injured because of being unrestrained in cars.

Has anyone tried one of those travel pods that hang on the back of the car seat?

Ok- I have 2 types of seatbelts. The first buckles into the base for the regular seatbelt- actually has 2 tongues so fits most all seatbelts- old cars and new. I bought it at Petsmart about 4.5 years ago and haven't found the same style since. So I bought another- has a loop that you can put the regular seatbelt through so it's hooked securely. This style also fits the Latch style carseat system which I've not hooked it to but my car has. The closeup has the brand on it. I got it at Petsmart almost 2 years ago when I adopted Callie. I haven't looked for it recently but it might be available on the internet somewhere. hope these help...

I like that one! I'll look into getting that one!

Okay, I went to petsmart.com and found a few things I liked. One is a doggie booster seat. I think with this one a pup will be able to see out the window. And something called a seatbelt least, but I'm not sure about this one. I plan on running to petsmart tomorrow and checking them out!

Let me know what you end up with as I'm going to be faced with transporting TWO (yes, TWO - not 3! :wink2:) pups to the cottage in the next couple of months along with all our gear.

Did you look into the travel pods that Caro mentioned? I've never heard tell!

Thanks - I looked up dog booster seat and found a few.

I think I might invest in one for Tully - she isn't so crazy in the front seat (unlike the wild antics in the back) but its too dangerous having her balancing in the front to look out the window, even with a harness, as she may hit her head on the dashboard.
