Drinking but only outside

Hi gang,

Our Chelsea is drinking fine but rarely will she drink in the house. She much prefers to drink outside. We thought it was a "favorite bowl" thing so we brought that bowl into the house but no deal. She wants her water outside. Not that it's a bad thing but some mornings it's frozen solid and we just replace it. (Michigan)

Same with snow in the winter too I guess. She hardly drinks indoors and prefers snow versus indoor water.

Goofy huh?

My dogs are the same. They will drink inside if they have too. Liam does it the most. They prefer to drink outside. In the winter, they have this huge bowl of "ice cream" to eat from and therefore don't want to drink inside.

Yep got the same problem, doesn't seem to matter if its the bowl or if its fresh & cold, the inside bowl will only ever get used if the outside one is
totally empty, and then he still scratches at the door & goes out and stands there like hey arn't you going to fill this thing up.

Tully used to do this too. Then I changed the indoor bowl, so in summer they have a water fountain and in cooler months I use a ceramic bowl. It seems to have done the trick. I think the problem may have been Tully prefered the water from the plastic outside bowl. Of course the outside bowl gets fresh rainwater in it as well so no doubt it has a different taste.

My previous dog would prefer to drink out of the potted plants- even with a clean bowl of water outside. He'd drink out of his bowl inside - but outside, I guess he liked flavored water
