Duck Jerky!

So i was at the grocery store today and decided to see if they had any interesting dog treats. well they had some duck and chicken jerky so I decided to let Gizmo give them a try. Well, i gave him a piece of the duck jerky first and he about when NUTS!!! He LOVED it!!! :yes: i hope he likes the chicken one just as well. they actually had a bigger bag of that one but i wanted to let him try it first before i got the big one. Just had to share my find!
 
Not meaning to scare you but I discontinued giving my Danny Boy any jerky treats on the advice of our retired veterinarian friend and some research on the web. Many come from china or ingredients from china and dogs were getting sick and even dying from them. Plus the Ingredients used in curing them aren't good for our dogs. My Danny went crazy over them too but I tossed them in the garbage when I found out they could be toxic. You can make your own jerky in the oven and the recipes are on the web.
 
So i looked at the packages i just bought, and they are from China. :cry: So i have been looking stuff up, and have some questions. I think all of the websites I looked at were saying the problems were in 2007-2008, but there was nothing more recent. So is this still a problem now, or have things been "taken care of"? Another thing i read was that a lot of the dogs that got sick were given the chicken jerky several times a day for several months. So is it safe to give Gizmo these treats just every once in a while, then not get these any more. the bags are only 3oz a piece so they are pretty small. or should i just throw them away?
 
I read an article on a website called something like dogs world news or something like that that claims jerky treats are causing fanconi disease to date and the treats are not recalled. Plus they can have salmonella in them. We just decided to not give Danny jerky nor pig ears anymore. There was another ingredient in the processing of jerky I was told isn't good for dogs. I cannot recall what it was though. I will not give Danny any products coming from China including toys and this is because of toxins found in them.
