Ears

There's another member on the forum who lives in Indianapolis. I live in Houston, but drive through Terre Haute when we go to Indianapolis in October. If you feel like coming to watch some Flyball, I can attempt to show you then lol. SheepOfBlue will also be there.
 
I do pretty much the same as mentioned previously. It's funny, we finally found a groomer we like, and I STILL won't let her do my guys' ears. I just don't trust her! It can be tricky and even with my 3 I treat them all differently. The Illustrated Guide to Sheltie Grooming was my bible as I figured it out.

I'm attaching a picture of Bentley and you can see that I trim the tips of his ears, clean up the flyaways on the sides, and then shorten the hair on the back of his ears just a bit (can't see it in the pic). I pretty much leave the hair in front of the ears intact unless they start to really peek out the sides.

That actually sounds like fun. I probably won't be touching her ears for a few months anyway.

Those ears look really good. That is how I want them to look eventually. Also Bentley's ears look so much smaller than Cleo's. I feel Cleo may be part bunny. :lol:

The breeder I purchased Piper from said to use thinning scissors with 46 teeth, this makes it look more natural. The book Sheltie Talk has good directions for trimming ears. (The breeder is going to teach me but Piper is too young yet). You can get used copies of the book from Amazon(I paid only 10.00 with shipping). Hope this helps

I have the book. We used it on our sheltie when I was a child. My mom gave me it when I got Cleo. And I do have thinning scissors. I am more visual when it comes to things so looking in a book won't help much for me. :uhoh:
