Edan and I had a busy day ahead of us on Tuesday at Nationals. We were entered in Rally B Excellent and Advanced as well as Beginner Novice A.
In Rally we were going for our third RAE leg. In Rally Excellent we weren't quite together but did well enough to score a 93 and a Q. Our Advanced run was MUCH better with a score of 97 and a Q. We actually just missed placing in the class. I'm quite happy with taking the two Qs and RAE leg.
Beginner Novice was next and this was the "big one" for us since a qualifying score would earn us our title. We did very well in our Beginner Novice run. Our on lead healing was decent and our figure eights still need work on that outside post but I'm happy with the performance. His stand for exam was very nice. He lifted his head a bit but didn't lean away like he'd been doing in practice. (That was one of the things we worked to clean up.) He did beautifully on the sit stay exercise while I walked around the ring. A lot of dogs had issues with this and the ring was a bit larger than we normally see. It was a good thing we'd been practicing in a 50'x60' space so the ring size was not an issue for us. Finally, his recall - which had been giving us some grief in the last three practice sessions I had. (He'd sit to my right foot instead of directly in front of me.) He did a near perfect front! Our score was a 194.5 for a Q, our Beginner Novice (BN) title and FOURTH place! I did NOT expect a placement at Nationals in an Obedience class!
I absolutely LOVE working with Edan. He will do anything I ask of him to the best of his ability. I also LOVE the look on his face when I praise and reward him for his efforts. He really is a special little boy.
